Thursday Shout-Out: Adjutant Inspectors
2007/05/#2785594971276256029
2007-05-03
One thing I've noticed since I started blogging back in September is that readers come and go. People who commented on every post in the beginning have now disappeared. My readership continues to grow, but I still hate to lose even one reader. A lot of the people who leave are bloggers who have quit blogging for some reason or other, but I know that on occasion I've offended people. Usually people get offended because they've misinterpreted something I wrote (it's sarcasm, folks!). On the other hand, sometimes people get offended because they correctly interpreted something I wrote. Not much I can do about that. I don't have an agenda, but occasionally one of my opinions will slip through, and guess what? It might not be the same as your opinion! Lighten up.
Anyway, I thought it was about time that I recognized the people who have stuck with me since I started. These are people who seem to "get" me, for whatever reason. And more importantly, even when they don't get me, they have enough faith in me to realize that although I'm kind of an asshole, I'm not as big of an asshole as I occasionally pretend to be.
I've reorganized my blogroll to recognize these people. You'll see them listed as "Adjutant Inspectors" over on the left. (You can get to my full blogroll by clicking on the More Friends link underneath.) I will occasionally be promoting bloggers to Adjutant Inspector rank as time goes by, but I'm starting with this small group of loyal friends. It's not exaggerating to say that without the encouragement of these people, I probably would have given up on this blog some time ago.
I especially want to thank these folks:
Crazy Aunt Neva from Central Snark. Neva/Snuppy/whatever is hands-down my number one fan (Sorry, Zoning). Central Snark was the first site to link to me, and Neva is forever posting encouraging comments, sending me encouraging emails -- hell, even mailing me encouraging books! And books cost money, people, no matter how cheesy they look. So go visit Central Snark and tell her how much we appreciate her. Do it today, because it looks like she's having a bad morning.
G from Simply Said (also known as Lampshade Lady, Princess Lampsha, etc.). A fellow Snarkster who entertains us with her musical selections every Saturday at the Snark and draws us into her introspections on life at her own blog (I hope I'm not violating any Snark regulations by de-mystifying the elaborate system of nicknames). Beyond that, she's just super nice and is always posting comments that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Also, her niece Shannon is participating in Relay for Life, and I know she would appreciate your support. Click here for details, but I'm warning you -- once you see Shannon's smile you will not be able to say no.
Joel from Crummy Church Signs. Great guy, absolutely hilarious (and horrifying) blog. Check it out.
Logophile from It Really is a Dog's Life. One of the first blogs I ran across when I started doing this, and she's still going strong. She's a smart cookie, has a great outlook on life, and rides a freakin' motorcycle. What more could you want?
Claire from Notes from a Wildcat Fan. I haven't heard quite as much from her lately, but I swear that for a long time Claire read and commented on everything I wrote -- on this blog, at Central Snark, at my reading log, my serious blog -- I think she was writing comments on the memo section of my checks for a while. As a fellow northern Californian and someone who seems to share a lot of my political and religious views, Claire's visits are always welcome.
Robin from Random Observations - Robin is kind of quiet and unassuming -- she is a librarian, after all -- but she has been a loyal reader and supporter almost from the very beginning. She even goes to the trouble of defending me when someone who isn't familiar with my snarky style gets their feathers ruffled by something in one of my posts. Thanks, Robin! You rock.
One quick announcement: Mad Kane is having a Mother's Day Limerick Contest with real money prizes! Check it out.
And don't forget, tomorrow is Caption Contest day! I don't care if you have to scale Mount Rushmore to get here, just get here. See you tomorrow!
Update 8:06 PM - Somehow I completely forgot Anita from Say No to Crack. She has given me a lot of extremely helpful advice for promoting my blog, and seems to have the ability to quadruple my traffic on a given day by using some kind of black magic. Thanks, Anita!
